Quentin and I decided to make the most of our ski’s holidays taking a trip in the nearest capital city, Tallinn.
Beforehand the necessities were to find a place to sleep and a way to go. Once again the Airbnb platform reveal itself as our BF and the ferry was undeniably the best way to travel. Unfortunately we found a datable bedroom in a shared apartment, the mattress was really uncomfortable but after all the building was located in the Vanalinn (the old town’s name) centre and the price was very low. Then we booked a cheap ferry ticket to cross the Baltic Sea. The main advantage is that the Tallinn’s port is situated really next to the city centre, no more than fifteen minutes by walk and the crossing lasts only two hours.
We spent our day in the streets of Vanalinn cause we knew that it’s a small area (110 ha). The cold weather with its -10°C didn’t stop us to discover what the old town could show us.
In fact that place is very well preserved and exudes medieval air. Squares, cobbled alleys, cathedrals and old facades embellish the fortified place while shops, bars and restaurants give life to it. After all, visiting the old town of Tallinn it’s like doing a leap in the past, find yourself in the 15th century.
Two localities to know if you are hungry or if you want to take a drink. The Kompressor, a creperie with a truly interesting price-quantity ratio and the Hell Hunt, a nice bar with a large choice of beers.
